Powder coating applied over the galvanising shields the zinc from moisture, so the system outlasts the sum of the two coatings taken separately.
Powder coating is given an electrostatic charge and sprayed onto the earthed panel, then melted onto the surface in an oven. Because it contains no solvent it leaves no runs or drips, and the coating thickness stays even across the bends and the weld points.
Using galvanising and paint together is called a duplex coating. The paint protects the zinc from moisture and salt; when the paint is damaged at a point the zinc beneath steps in and stops the rust from spreading. The salt load along the Antalya coast calls for exactly this double protection.
Colour is not purely a visual choice. Dark tones raise the surface temperature through the summer, while light tones show dust more. Greens and anthracites are common around estates and facilities because they strike a balance between those two extremes.
Frequently asked questions
Powder coating is a finish made for exterior use; under the sun the colour goes slightly matt over the years but it does not flake off. That loss of gloss does not affect how well the surface protects the steel.
There are two reasons. In salty, humid air zinc on its own is spent faster, and the paint slows that down. Second, a colour that matches the landscaping usually looks better than grey galvanised steel.
